This non-fiction book breaks down the various ways in which women have been conditioned to have low self-confidence. In a very engaging (non-boring!) way, it presents history and scientific research to show how we doubt ourselves more than men, and gives us the tools to change that. It teaches how to be just as confident, if not more, than men, and how to truly tap into our inner competence and innate abilities. This book was personally transformative for myself as well as friends that recommended it to me. From the first chapter, I left already feeling a greater understanding of myself and how I may more confidently walk through life.

“Heidi Siefkas was a happily married, globetrotting professional who seemingly had it all — until a tree limb in New York’s Hudson River Valley struck her down, breaking her neck and leaving her unconscious. Suddenly, life as she knew it stopped. She lost her independence. She lost her career. She watched her marriage disintegrate as she confronted a trail of devastating lies about her husband’s double life.

She had lost all that mattered, but she was a survivor. She fought to restore her health, repair her broken heart, and rebuild herself. Along the way, she gained clarity about her core values, ultimately coming to a deeper understanding of what it means to have it all.

Through down-to-earth, short vignettes, When All Balls Drop shows us how it’s possible to look up in spite of pain, deceit, and loss. Heidi’s memoir — rich with hope and humor — inspires anyone who’s had to confront tragedy and reassess their life in the wake of life-altering events.”

“This fiction novel is a must read for all women who have ever had a relationship that didn’t last. In this book Marcus pressures a very young Cassandra for sex, Robert is an abusive and lying husband, George fails to mention that he is married, Chris falls for babysitter, and Aaron has commitment (and mental) problems.

This book provides heart and hope. In Cassandra’s case (as with other women) it both betrays her and makes her strong. The reader is left strong as well: empowered by the story of an ordinary woman struggling through ordinary (unfortunately quite ordinary for many) circumstances. And Cassandra’s strength is not tinged with bitterness. Hers is a sweet sort of strength, and womanly strength. Even her revenge is designed not to hurt too badly.

This novel is loosely based on my life and I am very proud of Cassandra and my first novel. I’m ready to make it a priority and release it to the public again in which I’m sure it will inspire other women. That’s a promise!”

Khanh Tran from Villa Finder. Find out more about the book I Never Called It Rape by Robin Warshaw by reading the description below or clicking on the button.

The book is about the widespread problem of date and acquaintance rapes, backed with statistics, studies and research. It also sheds light on the controversies and stigmas and tries to explain why the problem occurs and goes unreported. Why I am suggesting this book: It’s fascinating, mind-blowing and simply disturbing. Before reading this book, I had thought that most rapes were done by strangers. However, it turns out that women are more likely to be raped by someone they know than by a complete stranger. It’s frightening to learn why they didn’t report such cases and what happened after the rape. Would anyone trust them? How can they talk about it? How can they protect themselves?

“This is a best selling, award-winning novel for a reason. The most brilliant book I have ever read, and I read a lot. This book focuses on improving the health of your mind so you can live a happy, enjoyable life. A lot of us are stuck in the past and question why certain things have happened to us. A lot of us stress about the future. If you stress often, which 99% of women do, this book teaches you how to live a happy fulfilled life by living in the present moment.

At this very second, is there anything wrong? You’re worried about what could happen instead of what is happening. Living in the present moment is something that most people do not do. There are so many women who are feeling lost and without purpose. These women are all around us – some are mothers, young professionals or even teenagers trying to figure out who they are in the world. Women are often told how they should act, feel and think, and this has led to women lying to themselves about how they are not in control of their lives. This leads to very low confidence and self esteem. Girl, Wash Your Face completely demolishes these beliefs! Rachel’s book faces the lies head on, and provides tangible tools and wisdom to take control of your life so you can move forward with more purpose and confidence. I read this book coming out of a year working in an unsatisfying cubicle job my first year out of college. I had just quit my work and was feeling extremely downtrodden on my lack of interest in my job or my inability to convey passion in the field. I read The Confidence Code as I was making a transition into a new career or teaching, and this book really dove into the limiting beliefs that women have in themselves, some of which I was victim too. It provided practical ways for women to put themselves out there and promote themselves in ways that feels genuine. This is a great book for women in any stage of their life and a nice reminder that women can still have a voice and put themselves first.
