As COVID-19 continues to influence the world, you may be extra conscious about your personal health. However, it’s important to understand that you might just have seasonal allergies; to be sure, it’s important that you know the distinction between the two. Here are some signs you have seasonal allergies that you need to be paying attention to.

You Have the Symptoms

The easiest way to tell that you are suffering from seasonal allergies is if you experience the common symptoms associated with them. These include the following:

  • Coughing
  • Runny nose
  • Stuffiness
  • Headache
  • Sneezing
  • Rashes
  • Sore throat

Allergies can be painful; often, however, they are caused by your environment. Paying attention to your surroundings can help you figure out what you are dealing with.

They Are Consistent With the Seasons

Another sign you have seasonal allergies is if they fall in line with the seasons. A change in weather is a common cause of allergies and you may notice that symptoms tend to get worse in certain seasons. Here are the common causes of allergies based on the seasons:

  • Spring – Pollen
  • Summer – Grasses
  • Fall – Pollen from weeds
  • Winter – Dust, mold, and pet dander

Symptoms Aren’t That Severe

While a sore throat is a common allergy symptom, there are situations when you should be concerned. Typically, a sign that you might be dealing with an infection or something else entirely instead of an allergy is when the symptoms last for a few days and you have a fever and feel weak. Severe symptoms are clear signs that you are not dealing with your normal seasonal allergies.

See an Allergist

The best thing you can do whenever you aren’t feeling well is to see a medical professional. This way, they can run tests and see if you do have seasonal allergies or not. By seeing a doctor, you can also get pointed in the right direction in terms of how you should treat your seasonal allergies.
