I wrote this book to share my healing journey and inspire others to embark on their own. I was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes in September 2017 and started incorporating hiking into my diabetes management plan. As I started hiking for my physical health, I was blown away by the mental and spiritual benefits of spending time outside, and it was on the trail that I was able to connect the dots between trauma I had survived earlier in life and how that unresolved trauma presented as frequent panic attacks and Type 2 Diabetes. One of the reasons this book is for prevention is I have since reversed my diabetes diagnosis. My diabetes has been in remission for more than a year now, all thanks to the changes I made in my personal and professional life after my diagnosis.
